The North Strand Council and the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce will host the 2011 North Strand Leadership forum The moderated Q&A session will be 4-5:30 p.m., with the reception 5:30-7 p.m. Attendees with have the opportunity to meet elected officials representing the north strand area. Please plan on joining us to become better acquainted with your elected officials and their stances on issues.

Family Fun Run Friday night at McLean Park starting at 5:00pm sponsored by the NMB Aquatic & Fitness Center, Basil’s Pizza, and Basil’s Realty.  There will also be a concert by the Coco Loco Party Band, food and more.

Race starts at 6pm.

Registration for the Fun Run is $8 per person

Go Tri Sports SC Triathlon Series will present the East Coast VW Triathlon North Myrtle Beach 2011, starting at The OD Resort in North Myrtle Beach on Saturday September 10, 2011 @ 7:00am.

I’ll be in a relay team and will be cycling 13 miles.   Gregory Duckworth will start us out by swimming 700 yards, and NMB Lifeguard Gage Hicks will bring us home running the 5k.

The swim will start about 5th ave (North or South, depending on the tides) When Greg comes ashore at the Horseshoe I’ll Bike up Ocean Blvd to 53rd Ave N then back down Lake and Duffy then back south on Ocean Blvd to Main Street and around McLean Park. Then down Hillside to 27th Ave South and all the way up Ocean Blvd to the Horseshoe where NMBHS grad and NMB Lifeguard Gage Hicks will Run up Main, Down Hillside to 13th South.  As Gage comes up Ocean Blvd he’ll Turn on 2nd Ave South and finish at McLean Park.

If you’re not competing then come cheer on the nearly 200 competitors and hang out at McLean Park afterwards.

This event benefits the SADS (Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome) Foundation.
